Christianity is a major religion that has numerous followers from all over the world.  Many people consider themselves Christians. But what is the history of Christianity? What is Christianity about? 

Did you know there are seven different versions of the Bible? And each version has a slightly different story line? For example, there are the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Apocrypha, the Deuterocanonical Books, the Catholic Bible, the King James Version and others. Each version has something unique to offer. Therefore, when you are looking for the “real” or “original” story, you must decide which version of the Bible you believe is the most accurate. And which version of the Bible should you read? That’s easy. You should always read the version of the Bible your Christian group uses. Don’t worry about finding the “true” story. The truth is, there is no one true story line. There are many different stories that can be used to teach important life lessons.

Therefore, when you study the Bible, don’t try to force the different versions to all agree on one set of events. Instead, let each version tell its own story. Most people who claim to be Christians have not read the entire Bible. Actually, only about 25% of American adults have read even half of the Bible. Therefore, most people are only “half-aware” of what the Bible has to say. If you are in this category, don’t feel bad. You’re not alone. Many professed Christians are the same way. What should you do if you really want to learn more about Christianity? That’s easy. You should read as much of the Bible as you can. Don’t worry about forcing all the versions to agree. They won’t. It’s like trying to force all the states to agree on the exact time they should start their summer vacation. The truth is, there is no single, exact truth. The point is, there is truth and there is light. The Bible contains both. If you study the Bible for a long enough period of time, the truth will seep into your being. And you’ll know it without having to be told.

The most important element of Christianity is the belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior who died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected three days later by God. All true Christians should follow certain spiritual guidelines to help them on their journey to heaven after they die. These spiritual guidelines are found in the Bible. They are also known as the “Ten Commandments”. When people ask me what the “real” meaning of the Christmas holiday is, I tell them it is a time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ. And that when you do that, you will come to realize how much he has done for all of us. True Christians should try to live each day as if it were the “Day of Christ”. What does that mean? It means doing good deeds for other people every day as a way of saying “Thank you” for all that Jesus has done for them.

Another important element of Christianity is the belief in the Holy Spirit. When you become a Christian, God sends the Holy Spirit into your heart and empowers you with the “Disciple’s Way”. That way, you can overcome evil with good. Yet, most people don’t realize that the Holy Spirit is one of God’s most important gifts. If you are really sincere about following Jesus Christ, you should pray to receive the Holy Spirit. Most people do not do that. If you truly believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, you should ask God for the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit is one of the three greatest gifts that God has given mankind. So, if you are serious about following Jesus Christ, ask God for the Holy Spirit. Yet, you must follow God’s rules to keep the Holy Spirit in your life. The Bible says: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” And Paul wrote: “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. And he was buried, and he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures.” God created everything. He made us. Therefore, we have an obligation to treat all people with kindness and compassion. True Christians are always to be loving and kind to everyone. True Christians are never to use hate as a tool. True Christians should always be humble and not think too highly of themselves. True Christians are always to respect others, their beliefs, their parents, their spouse and their kids. True Christians are always to be forgiving of others. True Christians are to treat everyone with dignity and respect. That’s how true Christians are taught to live. Another important part of Christianity is the belief in a holy God who created the universe. The Bible says that God created the universe in six days and then rested on the seventh day. The Bible says that God is the only one who can make the wind blow. The Bible also says that God is the only one who can cause rain to fall.

What is another important aspect of Christianity? It’s the belief in the existence of evil. What is evil? It’s anything that goes against God’s laws. But if there is no God, how could there be any such thing as evil? That’s a good question. I will answer it by telling you what Jesus said about the Devil. The Devil is a liar. He was created by God. And he is always looking to deceive people. But God is not a liar. He is truthful. Therefore, it would be more appropriate to say that the Devil is the father of lies. God is the father of truth. So, when Jesus talks about the Devil, he is talking about Satan. He is the prince of darkness who leads people astray. Yet, you are responsible for your own actions. Therefore, you must avoid sinning, which is anything that goes against God’s Word. And you must never tell lies. Christians who believe in God’s love for all mankind must also help others in need. Therefore, Christians must work to help others who are less fortunate than themselves. They must help by sharing their money, time, and talents. The Bible says that all Christians are to “love their enemies”. And to “do unto others as they would have them do unto them”. And that all Christians should be peacemakers. Some people are confused about the relationship between Christianity and other world religions. Christians don’t try to convert people to Christianity. In fact, they say that it is the responsibility of each person to find his or her own religion. Many people believe that Jesus Christ was the only “son of God”. Therefore, they do not believe that other people’s gods are as powerful as God. What is the truth? Is there one God? Yes. There is only one God. And he is called “Father” because he is the father of all living things. And he is the “Creator” because he created all life on earth. And he is the “Savior” because Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. 

All men are equal in God’s eyes. All people are born with certain inalienable rights. These rights are: the right to life; the right to freedom; the right to property; the right to the pursuit of happiness; and the right to self-determination. When you love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, then you will find peace. True inner peace. Peace within yourself. Peace between yourself and others. Peace within your family. Peace in your community. And, ultimately, peace throughout the entire world. Yet, there is something that is much more important than all of the above. What is that one thing? It is faith. True peace comes from a strong and unshakable faith in God.
