Independence Day is an important holiday in the United States of America.  Independence day is celebrated in the United States of America by people of all ages.

In the United States, on July 4th people celebrate independence from Britain in 1776. In the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania there is a huge celebration for Independence Day every year. The biggest celebration happens in the city of Washington, D.C. with a parade, fireworks, and lots of food and drinks. The largest celebration is held in New York City where there are lots of parades, parties, and fireworks. Other celebrations happen in many other states around the country and in many other countries around the world.

The celebration of this special occasion is not limited to any particular group of people, rather it is an important event that is enjoyed by everyone.

On July 4th, 1776, the second Continental Congress declared independence from Great Britain.  On July 9th, 1776, the Continental Congress named the Declaration of Independence as official documents for the colonies.  The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson and was adopted unanimously on the 4th of July, 1776.  The document was signed by John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Charles Thomson, Robert Livingston, Samuel Huntington, and Thomas Jefferson.

On July 4th, 1776, the Continental Congress ratified the Declaration of Independence.  On September 25th, 1783, the United States of America became independent from Great Britain. During the summer of 1776, Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence.  On August 2nd, 1776, the second Continental Congress adopted Jefferson’s declaration as official documents for the colonies. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson.  The Declaration of Independence was signed by John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Charles Thomson, Robert Livingston, Samuel Huntington, and Thomas Jefferson. The Declaration of Independence was officially adopted on the 4th of July, 1776. On the 4th of July, 1776, the United States of America adopted a document called the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson.

The signing of the Declaration of Independence was the momentous event in the founding of a new nation.  It marked the birth of a nation, and it began the process of creating a new government for the United States.  The American colonists declared their independence from the British Empire, and they declared themselves to be a free and independent people.  They were now a sovereign nation, with the freedom to govern themselves.

In the United States, July 4th is an important national holiday.  Many people across the United States celebrate this day by going to fireworks displays, parades, cookouts, and barbecues.
